You will learn about the NBA draft picks in this article, along with the full list, rankings, and evaluations of some players.
2022 NBA draft list
In New York, the NBA Draft took held. With the first pick, the Magic chose Duke forward Paul Bancello; the Thunder chose 7-footer Chet Holmgren; and the Rockets chose Auburn forward Jabari Smith Jr. with the third pick.
Chet Holmgren, the bamboo version of “Affleck,” was hurt during the amateur game season, and the Thunder then witnessed the performance of monster Ben Yama, who will be selected in the upcoming draft.
Chet was anticipated to be a strong contender for Rookie of the Year, but there is now uncertainty as to whether he will be a pillar of the team in a year.
Due to their violations of the early access to free agents rule during the previous offseason, the Bulls and Heat were each fined by having a second-round pick forfeited.
This year’s draft was therefore unique in that just 28 individuals were chosen in the second round and 58 individuals were chosen overall in the two rounds of the whole draft.
Here is a rundown of the preliminary findings for you.
- PG:Point Guard
- SG:Scoring Guards
- SF:Small Forward

Evaluation of the 2022 NBA Draft
Paolo Banchero
Projected stats: 18 points + 8 rebounds + 2 assists
Breakout period: December 2022
On the night before the draft, Paolo Banchero’s chances suddenly improved, giving him the advantage over Chet and Jabari Smith Jr. to be selected first in 2022. Smith and Chet, who were selected first overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, were rumored to have played “disaster” performances in the Magic tryouts. As a result, Orlando decided to invest in the power forward with Italian ancestry.
Although his long-range shooting is still inconsistent, Banchero has a good look with the ball in the high and low post, giving off a hint of an early Carmelo Anthony. His quiet dynamic talent is similar to 2014 rookie Randle’s, and with a strong body like a bull, his impact is a challenge for any interior defender.
There is no absolute core on the current Magic team, despite the outstanding performances of players like Wendell Carter and Cole Anthony. Additionally, there is no leader who can keep the ball in crucial situations.
The young and responsible Banchero could potentially handle this duty, but the Magic tried him at small forward in the preseason, teaming him up with Wendell Carter and Mohamed Bamba, which revealed his lack of speed and reliable outside shooting.
Theoretically, it would be better for his personal effectiveness if he were a power forward, paired with Carter or Bamba at center, Wagner was a shooting-friendly small forward, and Banchero was allowed to play inside with the ball.
However, the Magic are more patient with newcomers and may need to find Banchero’s position gradually in the middle of the season, so I also recommend starting the first-rounder in the middle of the season.
Jabari Smith Jr.
Projected stats: 14 points + 5 rebounds + 2 assists
Explosion period: March 2023
On the eve of the draft, Banchero, who eventually became the “top scout” in the area, quickly overtook Jabari Smith Jr., who had been the top pick for half a year. However, by chance, the Rockets chose Smith, who they initially loved but couldn’t seem to sign.
Smith’s size, shooting, and defense are ideal for the Rockets, who already lack wing talent and height. Additionally, because the Rockets are in the midst of a rebuild, they are not afraid to give young players room to experiment and make mistakes.
The Rockets currently have a young backcourt duo consisting of Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green. Green and Porter are poor organizers and prefer to use their individual offense to set the pace of the game more frequently.
Given how early in the season it is, Smith might have to begin on defense, anchoring the team’s wing defense alongside Tari Eason, the other rookie. Then, as he gets into the swing of things, he’ll gradually start to benefit from his shooting.
It is important to note that Smith’s ability to handle the ball offensively is much lower than his own ball-free running and shooting ability, and it appears unlikely that quality changes will be made before the upcoming offseason. For this reason, the first season, Smith may serve more as the team’s “wingman,” and since the data will not be as thorough and will instead focus more on shooting percentage, it is not advised for Fanatics to purchase Smith.
Smith might be happy to welcome a wave of data explosion at that point in the season if the Rockets want to start sprinting for the Wimbun Yamahas in the latter stages of the campaign.
Keegan Murray
Projected stats: 16 points + 6.5 rebounds + 2.5 assists
Explosive period: November 2022
Keegan Murray, 22, is an actual “older rookie.” After four years of college, Murray’s instant power is perhaps the highest of any players in this class; he is essentially a “finished product.” Usually, older rookies in the draft market are undervalued due to their lack of potential. the completed item.
Despite the Kings’ reputation for failing to nurture young talent, Murray’s development is nevertheless greatly facilitated by the present team dynamic. Sacramento lacks quality wingsmen, and the only one he can depend on, North Carolina Blackhawk Barnes, is a trade target and might not be able to stay with the team for the entire campaign. Only Barnes of the North Carolina Blackhawks, who is the subject of trade speculations and might not play for the team the entire season, can be counted on.
The fact that the team’s two best players, Fox and Sabonis Jr., are both pass-first players and that the entire team is willing to share the ball is also good news for Keegan-Murray.
It’s important to consider Kyle Kuzma’s first two seasons with the Lakers if you want to compare him against seasoned players. Murray should be able to secure a consistent starting position in such a situation by being able to capitalize on the turmoil, play with his mobility, and create space on the fast break. Murray is anticipated to compete for this year’s ROY due to his mature ability and the absence of other candidates in the same position.
Jaden Ivey
Projected stats: 15 points + 4 rebounds + 4.5 assists
Breakout period: December 2022
Ivey, a rookie at the age of 20, has some talent and immediate playmaking skills. He is the kind of player that can immediately contribute thanks to his physical qualities and technical skills, which were developed in college.
Theoretically, the two sides’ skill sets complement one another because Ivey can run, jump, hold the ball, and blitz while Cunningham is composed and cool when shooting. For the time being, we are still positive about this pair of backcourt partners.
The Frenchman Killian Hayes appears to be only capable of filling in at the position after years of observation, while the others, like Joseph, Box, and others, are mentor-type players who help develop newcomers. Without the pressure of performance, the Pistons should let Ivey and Cunningham play their best this season.
With Bey and Bogdan on the wings and Bagley and Stewart on the interior negotiating their next contracts, the Pistons have a balanced roster, and the younger teammates might not give the younger Ivey the chance.
Jeremy Sochan
Projected stats: 6 points + 5 rebounds + 2 assists + 1.5 steals + 1 cap
Explosion period: February 2022
Sochan, a young player who was born in Oklahoma but raised in England and participated in the Polish league, has grown up with a wealth of experience. He has a deeper understanding of defense and teamwork than the young men of this generation who grew up in the American basketball system because he was raised in the European basketball system.
Sochan stands out from the rest of the draft class because his entire career has been supported by defense. What kind of chemistry can Popovic, an iron man who once had a falling out with the real Rodman, expect from a defensive prospect with hair that resembles Rodman?
The Spurs have always been a defensive-minded team, and despite recent improvements in speed and vigor, Popovic places more emphasis on defensive attitude, where Sohan unquestionably excels.
The Spurs don’t have a clear starter at power forward anymore thanks to Keldon Johnson’s move to small forward, which presents Sohan with a chance.
Given the strength of the team’s roster, the Spurs should play for the purpose of developing young players around February of next year, and Sohan’s numbers are anticipated to rise. This year, they should make a strong push for the Wimbun Yamahas.
